On Wednesday afternoons on the Derwent River, yachts take off from Bellerive Quay and engage in some racing along and across the river. Each time I've been there, the conditions have been quite different. From windy and grey, creating dramatic scenes of yachts tipping sharply over sideways, to sunkist golden evenings with sails backlit by the sun sinking below the mountain.
It was a windy day with choppy seas, and with a long zoom reach there were some dramatic shots to be had as the yachties battled the conditions.
But the next Wednesday was more your dreamy long summer evening and perfect for trying to capture the yachts as they drifted past the mountain as the sun started to lower its face below the horizon.
